Ed and Weiron head for the USA

Interesting that both Weiron Tan (Malaysia) and Edward Jones (Dubai), both who trained and raced in Formula Gulf have decided to continue their professional racing careers in one-make championships in the USA. They will compete on different levels of the ‘Mazda Road to Indy’ series, whose three championships all take in oval, road and permanent circuits. They both share a goal of reaching the top level Verizon IndyCar Series.

After late season success in German F3, Weiron (who actually won his first ever car racing in Formula Gulf) has joined Andretti Autosport to compete in the 2015 Pro Mazda Championship which runs a one-make 260 horsepower single seater; the second step of the ladder after USF2000. He is looking to win the scholarship to Indy Lights.

Ed, who showed enormous promise in the FIA European F3 series in 2014 is going to compete in the higher level 2015 Indy Lights with Carlin in the new 450 horsepower Dallara IL-15. He aims to win the scholarship prize fund of $750,000.
