Again for season 5 competitors will test and race over more than 2,000 kms in identical race-prepared ‘slicks and wings’ single seaters on six different circuit configurations of the Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina Circuits.

Points are awarded over 14 races to determine final championship positions. The Champion wins an F3 test in Valencia with GP2 team Campos Racing and the Vice Champion is invited to the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours as a guest of Gulf Oil International and Aston Martin Racing.

Said championship organiser, GulfSport’s Martin Hope, “One of our professional driver coaches, who visit from the UK for every event, sits with each competitor after each of the season’s 48 practise and race sessions comparing his or her data with the fastest lap recorded during the session to identify and rectify any driving issues. This is probably the only time in their racing career when they will be able to share and compare data with everyone else on the grid”. Untitled 30 Drivers from 15 Countries

Martin continued “Given the importance of fitness and nutrition to a successful racing driver, we have teamed up with Optimal Fitness who provide assessment, advice and guidance. Drivers visiting from overseas benefit from preferential rates provided by our official hospitality partner, Towers Rotana”.

Driver coach Tommy Erdos, a former F.Renault Champion, British GT Champion, and multiple LeMans 24Hr winner commented “I haven’t seen training like this since my Jim Russell Race School days back in the 90’s when Andy Pardoe and I worked together training young pupils fresh out of karting with the aim to give them a proper understanding of what it takes to become a professional race car driver.”

Newcomers are invited to test a Formula Gulf single seater on the Dubai Autodrome Club Circuit on the 18th October. Official pre-season testing takes place on the F1 GP circuit at Yas Marina Circuit two weeks later followed by 7 x 2-day test & race events from November to April that support the NGK Racing Series and the Porsche GT3 Cup.

Interestingly Formula Gulf has now trained 30 drivers from 15 countries making it a truly a leader in the world for junior driver development.
