Formula Gulf – Season 5

by Martin on May 31, 2015

October 2015 will see the start of season 5 for Formula Gulf. Since it inception in 2011 drivers have continued to graduate from a season in the UAE onto bigger and better things.
First to ever driver a Formula Gulf car and take part in training session at Yas Marina circuit was Edward Jones, this was back in 2010 and only last month Ed was winning races in the USA racing for Carlin in Indy Lights. Since then Formula Gulf drivers have gone on to compete and win in the likes of Formula Renault, F3, F4, GT Asia, WRC, and only in the last few weeks graduates from season 4 are racing in Euro Formula (F3) and BRDC Formula 4.

This season Formula Gulf picks up the accolade of being designated as a Competition Driving School by the UAE FIA office ATCUAE. This only goes to re-enforce the strength of Formula Gulf’s capability to train young drivers in the off (winter) season before embarking on a full season of racing in Europe etc.

In that weekend drivers will complete more than 350km of testing, along with over 5 hours of of track coaching and data analysis. Drivers will also be assessed at Yas by their fitness coaches from Optimal Fitness, their bespoke fitness and nutrition plan will be put together and then reviewed at the track during the season.

Prior to the pre season test at Yas Marina extra training and testing sessions will be arrange during September and October. These are compulsory for any driver that has just come from karting and ideal for current racers who want to have their skills refined before the season kicks off, more details can be found here about these training and test sessions.
